NOSE: Caramel, black pepper, tobacco and honey. With water, earthy notes pop out with an impressive boost of barrel notes that change the longer it decants.
PALATE: Very bold. Spice is very prevalent. Mid-high viscosity coats mouth nicely. Water brings out chocolate and makes this more approachable than it already is.
FINISH: A combination of barrel influence and grain spice with some sweetness at the end. Just shy of what I would call long but far from quick.
OVERALL: Decant this when drinking neat for a massive spice experience. The spectrum of detectable notes is immense on both the nose and palate which makes this a wild “ryed”. A stellar offering of 95% rye from MGP.
